The Foundation Classic combines natural materials with a carefully designed shielding function. It has been developed for people who want to complement their shielding canopy with a conductive under-bed shielding layer while placing particular value on a natural material base.
Used together with a shielding canopy, the Foundation Classic forms the conductive foundation for a sleeping area with a shielding enclosure that is as continuous as possible.
Two-layer construction
The Foundation Classic consists of two functionally coordinated layers.

Because the shielding layer is located on the upper side, the canopy and shielding mat come into direct contact. No additional connecting elements are required.

Swiss Shield® Naturell Ultra™ – conductive shielding fabric
For the Foundation Classic product range, Ecologa uses Swiss Shield® Naturell Ultra™ shielding fabric.
This high-quality conductive shielding fabric consists of 81% cotton, 18% copper/silver and 1% carbon, with a fabric weight of 117 g/m².

Which mat do I need?
The Foundation Classic is manufactured in one standard size of 250 × 140 cm ± 3 cm.
For double beds, two mats are combined.
Each mat features an approximately 10 cm wide shielded connecting strip along one long side. The two strips are simply placed on top of each other to create a continuous shielding surface.
Available in two versions
- grounding connection on the left – connecting strip on the right
- grounding connection on the right – connecting strip on the left
For a double bed, you need one mat of each version.
Grounding
The grounding connection passes directly through both fabric layers and is firmly connected to the conductive shielding layer.
When used with the supplied grounding set, the shielding surface can be connected to ground in a controlled manner.

Grounding set already included
The appropriate grounding set is already included with the Foundation Classic. There is therefore no need to purchase a separate grounding cable or additional connector.
The conductive surface of the shielding mat can be connected to the grounding system of the building’s electrical installation using the supplied grounding cable.
This grounding connection is particularly relevant when considering electric fields in the low-frequency range (NF/LF) and allows the conductive floor mat to be integrated into a more comprehensive shielding concept.
HF/RF and NF/LF – different frequency ranges
When dealing with electromagnetic shielding, it is important to distinguish between different frequency ranges and types of fields.
Shielding high-frequency electromagnetic fields and radio waves (HF/RF) must be considered physically differently from reducing low-frequency electric or magnetic fields (NF/LF).
A shielding material that is suitable for HF/RF therefore does not automatically provide complete protection against all types of low-frequency fields.
The Foundation Classic features a conductive functional layer and a dedicated grounding connection. It can therefore be used as part of an HF/RF shielding concept as well as to take electric fields in the NF/LF range into consideration.
The actual effectiveness of shielding depends on the specific conditions at the installation site. Factors include the type and strength of the field source, frequency, spatial arrangement, materials used and the specific installation conditions.
Protecting the shielding mat with heavy-duty felt pads
The conductive functional layer of a shielding mat should also be protected against mechanical stress.
Heavy solid-wood beds or bed frames with very narrow or pointed feet can exert significant localized pressure on the mat. This may damage or permanently stress the sensitive conductive layer.
For this reason, the Foundation Classic already includes four heavy-duty felt pads.
The 5 mm thick felt pads are made from 100% wool felt and manufactured in Germany. They are placed directly underneath the bed feet on the shielding mat and distribute the load over a larger surface area.
This helps protect the conductive layer against broken threads and mechanical damage while supporting gentle, long-term use of the shielding mat.

Shielding mat
The conductive functional layer forms the lower boundary of the shielding area and supports shielding against high-frequency electromagnetic fields (HF/RF).
Grounding set
The appropriate grounding cable is already included and allows the conductive surface to be connected to the grounding system of the building’s electrical installation. This is particularly relevant in connection with electric fields in the NF/LF range.
Four heavy-duty felt pads
The 100% wool felt pads protect the shielding mat against localized pressure from heavy bed feet and help preserve the sensitive functional layer.
Correct installation of the shielding mat
For its intended application, the Foundation Classic should be installed on the floor underneath the bed.
The shielding mat should ideally cover the entire area underneath the bed. This creates a lower boundary of the shielding area that is as continuous as possible and allows the mat to be optimally integrated into the overall shielding canopy concept.
The Foundation Classic should not be placed on the mattress. Positioning the mat on the mattress leaves areas open at the sides of the bed and therefore does not correspond to its intended use as a floor shielding mat.
For optimum protection of the mat, place the four supplied felt pads directly underneath the bed feet.

Care instructions
The fabric can be washed at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
Do not spin and do not tumble dry.
Excessive mechanical stress may cause thread breakage.
Do not use aggressive detergents or chlorine.
Protection when vacuuming: only vacuum the mat using a soft upholstery nozzle to prevent the fine conductive threads from being torn by hard plastic edges.

Why is the shielding layer located on the top side?
The conductive shielding fabric of the Foundation Classic is positioned on the upper side of the mat. This allows it to come directly into contact with the shielding fabric of the canopy. As a result, a continuous conductive connection is created within the shielding system without the need for additional connecting elements.
