Shielding paint - your protective shield against electrosmog
Electrosmog - an invisible danger in your home?
Do you feel uncomfortable within your own four walls? Do you sleep badly, are you often tired or have problems concentrating? Modern technology makes our lives more comfortable, but also brings challenges. WLAN, 5G, mobile phone masts and other wireless technologies penetrate every wall. We are constantly surrounded by electromagnetic radiation – whether we realize it or not. Although scientific opinions on the effects vary, one thing is clear:
A low-radiation home can significantly improve your well-being.

The invisible threat: Why walls alone do not protect
You may be thinking: “I’m protected in my house or apartment – the radiation comes from outside.” Unfortunately, this is not the case. Conventional walls offer hardly any protection against electromagnetic radiation. It penetrates through concrete, windows and wood just as easily as through air. The problem: the more devices and transmission masts there are in your surroundings, the greater the exposure.
- In cities, there are often dozens of Wi-Fi networks per building
- 5G technology uses high-frequency radiation that penetrates buildings
- Smart household devices such as Wi-Fi thermostats, wireless sockets and Bluetooth speakers further increase exposure
Your own four walls are therefore not a natural protective shield. But there is a solution: let our experts advise you on the best measures for your home!
The solution: shielding paint from TURTAL - your invisible protective shield
With TURTAL shielding paint, which is available from Ecologa Europe, you can create a safe retreat.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about shielding paint
1. How long does the shielding effect of the paint last?
TURTAL shielding paint is extremely durable and does not lose its effect over time. As long as it is not mechanically damaged (e.g. by scratches or abrasions), the shielding performance is maintained.
2. Can I apply shielding paint to any wall?
Yes, the paint is generally suitable for all common wall types, including:
- Concrete
- Plaster
- Plasterboard
- Wallpaper
- Wood (with suitable primer)
For highly absorbent or glossy surfaces, an adhesive primer is recommended to ensure that the shielding paint adheres optimally.
3. Do I have to paint the whole room or is one wall enough?
This depends on your protection requirements: It therefore makes sense to carry out a measurement to determine the intensity and direction of the exposure so that you can shield the room or rooms optimally.
4. Are there differences between one and several layers?
Yes! The shielding performance improves with each additional layer:
1 layer (~100 g/m²): Up to 36 dB shielding
2 layers (~200 g/m²): Up to 58 dB shielding
3 layers (~300 g/m²): Up to 65 dB shielding
Depending on the intensity of the radiation in your environment, two layers of paint are required, in some cases a third layer is necessary.
5. Is the shielding paint harmless to health?
Yes! TURTAL shielding paint is free from:
- solvents
- biocides
- preservatives
It is low-emission, odorless and environmentally friendly. Ideal for households with children, pets or sensitive people.
6. Why should you choose powder paint instead of liquid paint?
Because liquid colours usually contain preservatives.
7. How can you determine whether these preservatives are contained in a shielding paint?
All preservatives must be fully labelled !
In addition, biocidal products may no longer be sold without a consultation. This has been stipulated by a new EU Regulation No. 528/2012 since this year. https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/chembioziddv/
8. Which preservatives are these?
Isothiazolinones, which are often used in liquid colours, are :
Benzisothiazolinone (BIT), which is classified as a hazardous substance, belongs to the compound class of isothiazolinones and is a widely used biocide.
Enilconazole (INN), which is classified as a hazardous substance, is a systemic fungicide belonging to the imidazole group.
Methylisothiazolinone (MIT), which is classified as a hazardous substance, belongs to the class of isothiazolinones and is a widely used biocide.
9. Are these preservatives dangerous to health and the environment?
Yes, according to the website of the Association of the German Paint and Printing Ink Industry (VdL):
Isothiazolinones not only have the desired effect of killing microorganisms or controlling their growth, but also have undesirable effects. They therefore have a high aquatic toxicity.
10. Does Turtal powder coating contain harmful substances?
No, it is free from solvents, preservatives, biocides and antifreeze agents.
11. What are its advantages?
It is low-emission and odourless. Its application is not complicated, the drying time is very short and it can easily be painted over with conventional wall or façade paints.
12. What else should you pay particular attention to when buying shielding paint?
The adhesion of the paint.
13. How is it specified?
It is measured as force per area in N/mm². The lower the value, the poorer the adhesion.
14. What adhesion should a good shielding paint have?
It should have at least 10 N/mm² (newtons per millimetre). The Tutal paint has 12.2 N/mm².
15. What function does it have?
The adhesion of the paint determines how long the protective layer on a surface fulfils its function.
16. What happens if the adhesion of the paint is too low?
Even after drying, the paint leaves traces, e.g. on the hand.
So if the shielding paint is to be painted over with a conventional paint, e.g. white, it will tend to turn grey. It must therefore be applied several times to achieve the desired colour. This also reduces the protective effect.
17. Can I apply shielding paint to wallpaper?
Yes, this is possible. However, the wallpaper should be firmly attached to the wall. If it is peeling or damaged, it is better to apply the paint directly to the wall.
18. Can I remove the paint again?
The paint itself cannot be washed off, but it can be painted over with conventional wall paint. If necessary, the shielding paint can be removed by sanding or plastering over.
19. Is earthing really necessary?
Yes, earthing is absolutely necessary.
20. How do I paint over the shielding paint?
To ensure that the paint is properly covered, we recommend:
- Use a high-quality emulsion paint
- No mineral or silicate paints, as these can impair adhesion
21. Can I apply the shielding paint myself or do I need a specialist?
You can apply the paint yourself without any special prior knowledge. A normal paint roller or brush is sufficient. A specialist should be consulted for earthing.
22. Can I use a smartphone or WLAN scanner to test whether the paint works?
No! Smartphones or inexpensive apps are not precise measuring devices for electrosmog. To measure the shielding effect correctly, a professional RF detector or an EMF measuring device should be used.
23. can I use shielding paint outdoors?
Yes! TURTAL shielding paint can also be applied to exterior walls or facades. It should then be painted over with a weather-resistant colour in order to maintain the shielding effect in the long term.
24. can shielding paint be used in combination with other shielding products?
Yes! The colour can be perfectly combined with:
- Shielding fabrics for windows & curtains
- Shielding canopies for the bedroom
- Shielding fleece or floor mats for all-round shielding
25. Is the shielding colour only suitable for bedrooms?
No! The colour can be used anywhere:
Bedroom – For an undisturbed night’s sleep
Study – Protection against electrosmog in the home office
Children’s room – Safe retreat for your little ones
Living room – Less radiation exposure from WLAN & Co
