1. Does the shielding clothing really work?
Yes, our shielding fabrics have been scientifically tested and significantly reduce electromagnetic radiation. The protective effect has been tested and confirmed in accordance with internationally recognised standards (IEEE-STD 299, MIL- STD 285).
2. Can I wash the clothing without the protective effect diminishing?
Yes, the shielding fabrics retain their functionality even after repeated washing. However you should follow the care instructions: Use a mild detergent, avoid fabric softener fabric softener and do not use high temperatures or spin cycles.
3. Can a single item of clothing protect my entire body?
No. In order to achieve complete shielding, the entire body must be completely covered. In practice, this means that individual items of clothing such as shirts or T-shirts can only protect certain areas of the body. A combination of several items of clothing or other shielding products (e.g. canopies, curtains) increases the protective effect.
4. How have the screening fabrics been tested?
The shielding effect was determined using standardised measurement methods in accordance with IEEE-STD 299 / MIL-STD 285 / ASTM D4935. This involves measuring the extent to which electromagnetic radiation is reduced by the material. Our fabrics achieve attenuation values of up to 45 dB, which corresponds to a reduction of 99.99 %.
5 Why are there different shielding values for different substances?
The protective effect depends on the material composition. Our fabrics consist of a mixture of cotton and metallised fibres (e.g. silver, copper or polyamide with a silver coating). The shielding effect varies depending on the fabric density, material and weaving technique:
- Poplin cotton – up to 45 dB shielding (99.99 % reduction)
- Twill cotton – up to 45 dB
- Jacquard cotton – up to 26 dB
- Jersey cotton – average 38 dB
6. Can I measure the effectiveness of the shielding clothing with a smartphone app?
No. Smartphones are not precise measuring devices for electromagnetic radiation. Measuring the shielding effect requires special measuring devices that work according to scientific standards. If you want to carry out measurements yourself, we recommend high-quality EMF detectors such as the CEMprotect 33 or CEMprotect 34.
7. Do the fabrics contain metals that are harmful to health?
No. Our shielding fabrics are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified and do not contain any substances that are harmful to health. We do not use nanosilver, but only pure silver in combination with cotton or polyamide.
8. Are metallised fabrics suitable for people with pacemakers?
Our protective clothing protects between 95 and 99 % against high frequencies (300 MHz – 6 GHz). For pacemakers, you need shielding in the frequency range from 16 Hz to 3 GHz.
