Our shielded apron is equipped with two shielding foils. These magnetic field shielding foils for the chest and stomach area are attached to the inside of the apron.

It is possible to double the shielding foil or replace it with an optional foil.
The kitchen apron is made of high-quality cotton fabric that is impregnated with a stain protection agent, making it impermeable to water, oil and vapour.

Cooker with induction hob

In contrast to cooking with gas or conventional glass ceramic hobs, the heat is not generated by heating elements in the hob or by the flame, but directly in the base of the pan. There is an induction coil under the glass lid, which is supplied with high-frequency alternating current.
This creates an alternating magnetic field. In a magnetisable pot on the hob, eddy currents form in the base of the pot. This then heats up and transfers the heat to the contents. While conventional electric cookers are operated with 50 Hz alternating current, the frequency of the magnetic field in induction cookers can be up to around 1000 times higher.
According to the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), induction hobs must not exceed a magnetic reference radiation of 6.25 microtesla (µT) / 6,250 nanotesla [nT] at a distance of 30 cm from the hob if only one hob is used (provided there is a sufficiently large pot on this hob).

To reduce the risk of radiation from induction hobs during use, it is advisable to follow the advice below:

– Only use pans that are suitable for induction cooking.
– Do not use damaged pans with a dented or curved base.
– Use a pot that completely covers the hob: Do not use pots that are too small and place the pots in the centre of the cooking zone.
– If possible, use the hotplates at the back.
– Keep a distance of at least 5-10 cm, preferably 30 cm, from the hotplates. This applies in particular to pregnant women and small children.
– Do not use metal spoons while cooking to prevent radiation from escaping into the body.
– People with a pacemaker should discuss with their doctor whether they are allowed to use induction hobs. The British Heart Foundation
(BHF) advises people with a pacemaker to keep at least 60 cm away from induction hobs.

Worth knowing: Not only induction cookers generate very high alternating magnetic fields in the kitchen.
