The Foundation Essential is manufactured using Swiss Shield® Naturell Ultra™ conductive shielding fabric.

There is therefore no need to purchase a separate grounding cable and plug.
The conductive surface of the mat can be connected to the earth of the electrical installation using the supplied grounding cable.
Grounding is particularly relevant when considering low-frequency (LF) electric fields.
HF/RF and low-frequency fields (LF)
When discussing electromagnetic shielding, it is important to distinguish between different frequency ranges and different types of fields.
A fabric used to attenuate high-frequency electromagnetic fields (HF/RF) does not automatically provide complete protection against all low-frequency electric or magnetic fields.
The Foundation Essential features a conductive surface and a designated grounding connection. This allows the mat to be integrated into a shielding system that also takes low-frequency electric fields into consideration.
Actual performance depends, however, on factors including the field source, frequency, spatial configuration and installation conditions.
Felt padding included
If you have a solid, heavy bed made of solid wood or with very thin or pointed legs, the weight will compress the conductive metal wires significantly. In this case, it is recommended that you place small felt glides or load-distributing pads under the bed legs to prevent the central functional layer from being crushed.
To protect the exposed shielding layer from damage, it is also essential here to place a protective mat, felt pads or a carpet over it, which incurs additional costs.

The ‘Complete Peace-of-Mind Set’ for your canopy bed
1. The shielding mat: Seals the Faraday cage at the bottom and blocks radio waves (HF).
2. The professional earthing set: Connects to the mat via a press stud and safely dissipates electric fields (LF) from the domestic wiring.
3. Four heavy-duty felt pads (included): Because beds are heavy. Simply place these felt glides under the bed legs, directly on top of the mat. They prevent fibres from breaking, protect the delicate silver coating from damage and save you from having to buy an expensive protective rug.
👉 Important physics note: Never place the mat on top of the mattress! Radiation behaves like water – it would seep up from below, past the sides of the bed and into the canopy. Only when laid directly on the floor is your protective space completely sealed off.

Care instructions
The fabric can be washed at 30°C on a delicate cycle.
Do not spin and do not tumble dry.
Excessive mechanical stress may cause the conductive threads to break.
Do not use aggressive detergents or chlorine.
Vacuuming
Only vacuum the mat using a soft upholstery nozzle.
Hard plastic edges may damage the fine conductive threads.

Why should the mat be placed on the floor rather than on the mattress?
The Foundation Essential is designed as the base of the shielding system underneath the bed.
It should therefore be placed on the floor under the bed, rather than between the mattress and the bed frame.
When used with a shielding canopy, this configuration allows the conductive surface of the mat to come directly into contact with the shielding fabric of the canopy.
If the mat is placed on the mattress, it no longer performs this function as the floor-level base of the shielding system.
