Veil shielding fabric – Transparent shielding fabric against electrosmog
Lightweight, translucent shielding fabric for reducing high-frequency electromagnetic radiation (e.g. Wi-Fi, mobile communications, 5G) in living rooms and bedrooms.
Transparent protection for stylish interiors
Turn your interior decoration into effective protection against electrosmog. Veil is a soft, flowing, airy shielding fabric that blends harmoniously into living rooms and bedrooms.
The fine, permeable knit fabric is ideal for use as curtains, interlining in clothing manufacture and for textile shielding solutions for entire rooms. Veil is also used successfully in the manufacture of canopies.
Thanks to its transparent structure, the fabric elegantly allows light to pass through without darkening rooms or impairing the living experience.
Your advantages at a glance
-
- High-frequency shielding against electrosmog
- Transparent, airy and softly draping
- Washable and durable
- Light and air permeable
- Direction-independent shielding effect
- Ideal for curtains, canopies and textile room shielding
Protection & shielding effect
Veil was specially developed to shield high-frequency electromagnetic fields (HF). These include radio wave exposure from Wi-Fi, mobile phones, DECT telephones and 5G applications.
The open fabric construction enables an exceptional combination of high transparency and effective shielding performance – a special feature of lightweight shielding fabrics
Technical background on shielding
The shielding effect of Veil is based on a fabric construction with copper and silver metallised fibres integrated into both the warp and weft.
This construction ensures:
- Effective reflection and attenuation of electromagnetic fields
- Direction-independent shielding
- High wash resistance without loss of shielding properties
Measured values & shielding performance
- Average shielding attenuation: approx. 30 dB
- Frequency range: 450 MHz to 5.8 GHz (typical mobile phone, Wi-Fi and HF ranges)
A shielding attenuation of 30 dB corresponds to:
- 99.9% shielding of the incoming electromagnetic power
- only 0.1% of the radiation passes through the fabric
Detailed measurement results can be found in the attached measurement table.
Note on low-frequency fields (LF)
Low-frequency alternating electric fields (LF), such as those generated by domestic electrical installations, are not sufficiently reduced by textile shielding materials.
We recommend additional measures such as:
- Electrical shielding
- Separation of electrical circuits
- Use of a mains isolator switch
Areas of application
- Curtains for room shielding
- Canopies for sleeping areas
- Textile shielding of entire rooms
- Interlining in clothing manufacture
- Lightweight, transparent interior solutions
Fabric structure & material information
Our fabric structure:
- Polyester backing fabric
- Approx. 10% copper metallisation (main shielding)
- Approx. 2% silver (improved conductivity & oxidation protection)
Material information – silver metallisation
In the case of shielding fabrics, ‘silver metallised’ does not mean a solid silver content, but rather a technical coating of fibres.
Important to know:
Even with specifications such as ‘20%’ or ‘25% silver’, the actual silver content in the total fabric is usually well below 1%. Large percentages refer to the proportion of coated fibres – not to the silver content by weight.
Physical background
A material with a high solid silver content would be:
- very heavy
- significantly stiffer
- considerably more expensive
This is practically unsuitable for textile shielding products.
Our approach:
A proven combination of copper and silver – transparently specified, pleasant to use and reliable in its shielding effect.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Does Veil protect against electrosmog?
Yes. Veil was developed to reduce high-frequency electromagnetic radiation, such as that generated by Wi-Fi, mobile phones or 5G.
Is the fabric transparent?
Yes. Veil is deliberately very light and air permeable and is suitable for discreet shielding solutions.
Is grounding necessary?
No. The fabric is designed for textile applications and does not require grounding.
Is Veil suitable for bedrooms?
Yes. Veil is often used in bedrooms, especially as curtains or canopies.
